Lesson one for beginners: the golden ratio of the 7-iron. Why does every coach hand you a 7-iron first?

If you are new to golf you have probably wondered: with so many clubs in the bag, why does every coach start with the 7-iron? The reason is simple. The 7-iron strikes a good balance between shaft length, loft and controllability, which is why coaches treat it as the best starting point for building a swing. - The best entry-level shaft length The 7-iron shaft is a moderate length that balances control against swing arc, making it easier for a beginner to build a repeatable tempo. - A higher strike success rate In most game-improvement iron sets the 7-iron combines a moderate shaft length with plenty of forgiveness, so even a slightly off-centre strike still flies reasonably well and helps a beginner build confidence. - An ideal launch angle The 7-iron carries a moderate loft, so as long as the strike is sound it is relatively easy to produce a good launch angle and a stable ball flight. - The core starting point for the whole set The 7-iron is where the fundamentals of the swing get built. Once those are stable, moving out to long irons, hybrids, fairway woods and the driver usually goes much more smoothly, because the underlying swing principles carry over.

So it is not just a beginner's club - it is the hub that the rest of your game grows out of. Plenty of people rush to take on the driver and skip the club that actually builds the swing. Once you can strike a 7-iron consistently, learning the other clubs generally comes far more easily. Master the golden ratio of the 7-iron and you have the starting point for good golf. #Golf #GolfKnowledge #GolfLife #GolfBeginner #ORVIA
