Playing in the rain is not only about how hard it is coming down. It is about adjusting safety, equipment and strategy. 1) Safety first The moment you hear thunder or see lightning, stop playing and get into a proper building or shelter. Never stay out on an open fairway. 2) Get the kit ready Wear light, comfortable waterproofs and carry spare gloves and towels so your gloves and grips stay dry. 3) Protect your clubs When using an umbrella, keep the bag and club heads out of the rain. Dry the clubs after the round and store them somewhere ventilated. 4) Adjust your distances On wet turf the ball barely rolls after it lands, so take one more club and build the difference into your plan before you swing. 5) Adjust your tempo Rain gear restricts movement, so slow the tempo and shorten the swing.
