The first thing most golfers ask when they step onto a green is "does it break left or right?" Good green reading is not guessing the break. It is judging terrain, slope, speed and line in a set order. Start observing as you walk up to the green: 1) Look at the big picture first From a distance, find the high and low points of the green so you understand the overall shape. 2) Find the main drainage direction Picture where water would run and identify the low point and the main fall line. 3) Look at your own line Look from ball to hole, hole to ball, and from the side to see how the line rises and falls. 4) Feel the slope through your feet Use your feet to sense which way the ground tilts and how much. 5) Judge the speed before you decide the break The faster the putt, the straighter the line tends to be. The slower it is, the more it breaks. 6) Finally, pick the aim point Once you have the terrain, the fall line, the slope and the speed, choose your aim point and your line. The one line worth remembering from the card: Green reading = read the terrain + find the fall line + feel the slope + judge the speed + predict the break + commit to the line Good green reading is not intuition about "left or right" - it is working out, step by step, how the ball is going to travel. #GolfKnowledge #GolfLesson #GolfTips #CourseStrategy #GolfTraining #ORVIA
